Do you enjoy keeping up with the blogs you read/follow in Google Reader?
Do you wish you'd take the time to comment more often on those blogs?
Do you hate exiting out of Google Reader to actually comment on a post?
Well, this is how I've felt for some time now.
I might be EXTREMELY late to this game but I have recently discovered a revolutionary "next" feature on Google Reader. What is this feature you might ask? Well, it basically solves all of my problems stated above.
You too can enjoy the benefits of "Next." Go to your Reader Settings. Under the "Goodies" tab scroll down until you see "Put Reader in a bookmark."
Drag that little "Next" button into your bookmark bar. Mine is located next to my Pin it button.
Now all you have to do is click "Next" and it will take you to your first unread post in your Google Reader. Click next again and it goes to the next post and so on. Now, this might not be great if you have a million unread posts in your reader OR if you subscribe to blogs that post a million times a day. If either of those are the case it might be time to do a Reader cleanse/mark all as read....
What's so great about this feature? Well, for 1) it will increase my chances of actually commenting, 2) now I get to see what the blogs I'm reading actually look like and what other features/posts I might be missing and 3) that blog gets a well deserved "hit" on their site.
So like I said I might be the last person on earth to know about this feature but I find it to be awesome. It's just another example of Google taking over the world.

P.S. If you have no idea what I'm talking about then just smile, nod and continue on with your day.

Oh, great feature! That's the thing I hate most about the reader. Between Google Reader and reading on my iPad, I am the worst commenter. Blogger's issue with embedded comments doesn't help either. Grrr.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing because I did not know about this awesome feature. I hope nothing but good fortune comes your way. And BLTs yet bacon-less scented homes ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is so cool! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG THIS IS AWESOME! Can I copy and paste and totally give you 100% of the credit at the beginning?
